Future of Places is an international conference on public place and placemaking organized by UN-HABITAT. Its second edition happened last week in Buenos Aires under the theme "Streets as Public Spaces and Drivers of Urban Prosperity". During three days, over 300 architects, academics, citizens, politicians, geographers, entrepreneurs and professionals from various fields and from over 50 countries, gathered to discuss Public Space and Placemaking.
Carol Farias spoke about her experience as Jane's Walk Goiânia City Organizer and shared her research conclusions where she proposes Jane's Walk as a tool for bottom-up urban design as it brings citizens out to the streets to discover, discuss and take ownership over their city. Buenos Aires and Amsterdam Jane's Walk City Organizers Carolina Huffman and Peter Groenendaal were also there.
