October 17, 2025 – Jane’s & Chris Walk

Inspired by the spirit of Jane’s Walks and the thinking of Christopher Alexander’s Pattern Language, we organized an urban walk through Nice’s Liberation–Borriglione neighborhood.
Together, we explored the public space, its uses and interfaces, and discuss how urban design and planning have shaped everyday life across different eras — from the rapid urban development of the late 19th–early 20th century to the more recent urban interventions such as Gare du Sud,Janne d’Arc Garden and the requalification of many public spaces.
This walk is not just a stroll — it’s an opportunity to observe, compare, and reflect on how cities evolve, how design choices impact urban life, and what lessons can guide us toward more sustainable urban futures.
Date: Friday, October 17th, 2025
Meeting point: Tramway Station Libération
Time: 9:30 – 16:00
Lunch: Marché de la Libé
This event was part of the Sustainable Urban Design module of the MSc Engineers for Smart Cities and is organized and led by Alessandro Araldi, Giovanni Fusco, and Arianna Calza — but it was open to everyone interested in urban life, design, and city-making!
