Trout Valley is a small village in Illinois located about 40 miles northwest of Chicago. The Village was established on land that was originally owned by John D. Hertz, founder of the Yellow Cab taxicab and Hertz rental car companies. Hertz raised polo ponies and racehorses on the land and Trout Valley (known then as Leona Farms) was home to the 1928 Kentucky Derby winner Reigh Count. Landscape architect Jens Jensen design an intricate series of trout ponds and streams.
